Guest Profile Week #11: Jana & her beautiful family

 Where did you move from?

Stuyvesant Town, Manhattan, NY

What are a couple of the deciding factors for moving to the suburbs?

My family was growing. I was pregnant with my daughter, now 2 year old, and I had an almost 3 year old son at the time. My husband and I decided to look for a bigger place and also for a great school district for our kids.

Are you a Northern, Southern, Rivertowns, Sound Shore or Central Westchester resident & why?

Sound Shore because we love being close to the beach.

What do you like most about your home’s community?

There are a lot of events and activities for families. Also, there are a lot of restaurants to choose from. We enjoy hiking at the Rye Marshland and Rye Nature Center.

We love to going to the beach (Greenhaven and Oakland beach) and also to the Westchester Children’s Museum.

What do you appreciate most about your suburban home?

I can walk my now 5 year old son to school in Rye Neck.  We have a nice yard and driveway for our kids to play in and a space for visiting family.

Fill in the Blanks.  My Favorite….

Restaurant = For brunch or lunch, I really like Rosemary & Vine and Dig Inn + my family enjoys eating at the Rye Roadhouse. My family loves comfort food.

Park / Outdoor Activity Rye Nature Center, Rye Town Park and Oakland beach, Playland, Rye Marshland, Rye Golf & Pool Club and Greenhaven beach.

Work Out / Exercise =  Rye Y and running in my neighborhood

Children’s Store = Toy Box and Miller’s

Children’s Activity = Rye’s Mistletoe Magic event around the holidays, Greenhaven’s Halloween parade, and Westchester Children’s Museum

Any advice for people considering a move from NYC or anywhere in the world to Westchester Living?

My advice is to visit the town you’re interested in and spend a day there to get a feel for the place by walking around and checking out the stores, restaurants and playgrounds, etc.
