Guest Profile Week #3:  Tracey & Family

Where did you move from?

We moved to Westchester from Queens NY.  When we started looking I remember thinking how much I would miss Queens, but I never felt that way once we moved.

What were a couple of the deciding factors for moving to the suburbs?

Being close to the city was important because at the time both of us worked there and our daycare was also in the city.  Someone gave me advice early on to think about what we like to do in our free time and find a neighborhood that fits.  We love to be outdoors, hiking & skiing so Briarcliff was a perfect fit for us. Only 48 minutes on the train to NYC and we can be on the slopes in just over an hour from our home.

Are you a Northern, Southern, Rivertowns, Sound Shore or Central Westchester resident & why?

I guess Briarcliff (part of Ossining) is considered Northern Westchester but we’re right on the Hudson River so I feel like we have the best of both worlds.  Plenty of waterfront restaurants and water activities but we’re also close to hiking, skiing and since it’s Fall – apple and pumpkin picking.

What do you like most about your home’s community?

Briarcliff is a small town with a small school district.  It’s nice that everyone knows each other.  We also have excellent town facilites – a really nice town pool, well maintained tennis courts and excellent town-run after school activities.

What do you appreciate most about your suburban home?

My backyard and all that comes with it!  A pool, a BBQ, and enough room for our dog to run and run.  I also have a kitchen that I love to cook in.

Fill in the Blanks.  My Favorite….

Restaurant = Chatterbox Briarcliff Manor, NY

Park = Hardscrabble Wilderness Area (my dog can run off leash!) Briarcliff Manor, NY

Workout / Gym = Club Fit.  Excellent tennis lessons and enough variety for the whole family to find ways to keep active. Briarcliff Manor, NY

Children’s Store – Denny’s Scarsdale, NY

Children’s Activity = AZility
