New Rochelle, NY Community & Real Estate Guide
New Rochelle is a city located in the Southeastern portion of Westchester County, approximately 35 minutes North of New York City by express train. New Rochelle train station is a hub for Metro-North commuter railroad and Amtrak, allowing its residents easy access to Manhattan and destinations along the Eastern Seabord.
New Rochelle has a vibrant downtown and neighborhoods along the Sound and surrounding suburbs. There are many popular neighborhoods in New Rochelle. Some of the popular waterfront communities include Davenport Neck, Premium Point and Pryor Manor. Quaker Ridge, Daisy Farms, Dorchester Hills, Hillandale and Wilmot Woods are a few of the communities on the Scarsdale border. Larchmont Woods is a neighborhood on the border of Larchmont located a short distance from Larchmont Village, shops and train station. Forest Heights & Paine Heights are well-known for their large boulevards and spacious homes. There are so many wonderful neighborhoods to explore.
The city is served by the City School District of New Rochelle, which operates a public high school, two junior high schools and ten elementary schools. On seven separate occasions, the City’s schools have received the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award from the U.S. Department of Education. The school offers over 240 courses including honors, research and advanced placement courses. In addition to the public schools, there are many private schools in New Rochelle, including Hudson Montessori, Iona Grammar & Preparatory School, Thornton Donovan, Salesian & Ursuline.
